What are conflicts? How do they effect our online interactions? How can we avoid them in our DL classroom?

Anastasia Pryanikova, MA, JD believes that “conflicts are a natural part of our lives. Many people think of conflicts as something negative, but it doesn’t have to be the case. We are all unique, with different life experiences, perspectives, needs, and aspirations. Even when we make decisions on our own, we often deal with competing voices in our heads. It is only natural that we won’t always see eye-to-eye with others. Productive disagreements are necessary and desirable, they contain the seeds of creativity, change, and transformation. However, poorly managed conflicts may have bad consequences, including damaged relationships, uncertainty, forced changes, isolation, loss of face, tarnished reputation, and sometimes even destruction and the loss of life….”

  1. Regarding solving online conflicts, I simply don’t get angry. I have become exhausted with endless internet arguments, so I just give up and don’t bother to continue any kind of negative arguments online.
