About Dr. Mroz:

Dr. Mroz was born and raised in France. She completed her BA in Linguistics, Literature, and the Civilization of English and Spanish cultures, as well as an MA in Rhetoric of Arts in France and in the UK. She also completed a 2nd MA and a PhD at the University of Iowa in FL and ESL Education. Her expertise lies in curriculum design in the hybrid technological settings of teaching and learning. She is interested in educational technology (particularly VLEs) for the development of critical thinking abilities in an L2. Dr. Mroz has been the Director of an online program for professional development for ESL teachers at the University of Iowa for 5 years. She just accepted an Assistant Professor of French and Education position at Colby College starting September 2012.

Although the concept is not being used within instructional strategies or curriculum, it is among innovative additions to the strategic plan. It appears as if the target clusters of READY Works, Inc. have an opportunity to reap unmatched benefit from blending traditional approaches with the use of avatars online.

  2. My students created avatars for a character in a book they were reading. We also created avatars and then wrote a creative story using the avatar as the main character.
